If you haven’t heard, there are some amazing homebuyer tax credits available if you write a contract by April 30, 2010.  If you have not owned a home in the last three years then you can get up to $8,000 tax credit! (The tax credit is 10% of the purchase price of the home, up to $8,000.) If you have owned a home for the last five years then you are considered a repeat home buyer and you can get a $6500 tax credit when you buy a new home before April 30th!

There is no minimum salary requirement to qualify for the tax credit but there is a maximum salary of $125,000 per year for a single person or $250,000 per year for married couples. The credit is applicable for homespriced under $800,000. New homebuyers and repeat home buyers now have until April 30, 2010 to write a contract on a new home and until June 30, 2010 to close on your new home.
